STRIPPED WORKS: Angst vor der Angst
© Marina Carluccio
Fears, irrational and divine ghosts, subdue people, countries, cities and even whole nations. While that happens the contact to the unconscious part is lost, conflicts and castaways are ignored.
On a collective level theatre and fairy tales always had the task to keep up the dialogue between the ordinary and its own dark side.
The need to pursue such an artistic research comes yet again from a personal need: the need to meet those cracks that open while we are asleep. Phobias create involuntary thoughts. Fear of the fear means that it is the fear itself that throws us in the arms of what we fear the most. That’s why fear is scary.
Beyond the individual level, terror is seriously threatening the balance of a democratic, peaceful and antiracist society. Which were the fears of the „European“ at the beginning of World War II? Who is the Pied Piper today? Who are the rats?
