A three hour children's birthday party but when the birthday cake comes no-one is there to blow the candles.
An absence hangs in the air but the party goes on. The cake is eaten. Group games are organized in the space, the games run wild, we're playing like children again, but something in the games reminds us of death. Of our own death, despite or maybe because of it the games continue and we find ourselves playing livelier than ever.
Artes moriendi: A birthday Party is a party-performance event organized by the Working group Berlin of Compagnie des Wanderers and A dog's heart theatre as part of their performance project: „Artes moriendi – ways of dying“ to be presented in TatWerk the 8th of June in the frame of the Performing Arts Festival Berlin 2018. The theater project gathers the stories of different characters sharing one goal: to make death visible while they're still alive.
